Registration for Internship Credit (IS 480 or MIS 755)

The Internship Courses (IS 480 for Undergraduate Students and MIS 755 for Graduate Students) allow Information Systems students to earn credit for completing Internships. Students obtain the internships on their own, before registering for the course. The Internship courses require department permission on MyUNLV before students can register.

To obtain permission to register, students need to download and fill out the applicable Internship form (below) and submit it together with the employment offer letter for the internship (both documents in the same email) to marcus.rothenberger@unlv.edu.

Students will need to complete 50 hours of work for each credit. Most students register for 3 credits to count the class as an elective, thus the completion of 150 work hours is required.

Students must register for the Internship course for the semester during which they will complete the required work hours (it is ok to complete the work hours in multiple semester as long as you register during the final semester for Internship credit, with the exception of international students who require a CPT work permit for which registration during the entire employment is required). For summer internships, it is recommended to register for the last Summer Session (Summer III) to ensure that the internship is completed at the end of the course.
